We were just wondering if there was an new info on Chipotle’s grass-fed beef program. We agree with you– they are fighting the good fight. We want to help them. One day Chipotle and Estancia’s grass-fed, pasture-raised beef will make beautiful burritos together. Thanks for putting so much great content out and for caring about food.

The short answer is no, Chipotle doesn’t use grass-fed beef in any meaningful way.

I would love it if they did. But the beef they do use is a whole lot more ethically raised than what is served in even some of the most expensive restaurants in my area. And I’m thrilled that Chipotle is making incremental improvements to the meat that is available to most Americans. Grass-fed should be the goal. I’ve watched Chipotle promise an increased commitment to quality ingredients over the years, and I’ve seen them deliver on it. Time and time again. They promised a larger share of organic ingredients, more produce purchased from local farms, and a wider distribution of their version of “happy beef”, and have made good on them all.

Honestly I’m a little flummoxed by your tactics, as it should seem you are both fighting the good fight. But I also understand that when you are using grass-fed beef as your yardstick, Chipotle falls short.
