About the FLB

’17 Daniel B.

I used to live in a town that was all about food.  Great food.  And it was everywhere.  From high dining to the dirty hole in the wall.

Then I moved to a town far far away.  And let’s just say things are different here.

It occurred to me, there may be a way to change people’s perception about food.  If I can show people what good food is, in all of its forms.  If I can point out why some fancier things are overrated.  If I can demonstrate that great food doesn’t need to be expensive.

Maybe, just maybe, I can get more people to care about really good food.

    FYI
    not to be fussy…but

on my PC, the italics used on fussy about food, make it appear to read pussy about pood..also the D on FOOD hangs over the border.

I just discovered this blog looks better on my old mobile phone running an old version of Opera than it does on the PC. Sigh. I think I’m going to torture PC users for a bit more with this format before I do anything drastic. You will have to take my word that it looks absolutely stunning on a Mac. But thank you for your vigilance.

One thing I am not is a “pussy about pood”, and frankly I think the chances of being mistaken for one are relatively low.

Daniel – Excited to read more. Perhaps I can bring some of your fussy to the way I look at food in Detroit?

I’d actually like to see more on “Pussy About Pood.” It would be very funny.

And I really like your style. Keep on writing!

Nipper’s is the only place to experience authentic “Chicago Style” gourmet hot dogs in upstate NY, western MAss., & southern Vermont. We are located on State St in Albany just behind the Capitol. Look for our rainbow umbrellas and our smiling faces ;-)

[Note from the FLB: Normally such blatant self promotion of a local business would not make it through the approval filter. But since this page is intended to encourage people to try good food “in all of its forms” and since I think Nipper’s is a good example of this, I am letting it through as is. Thank you.]

Your blog is great…I now regret that we didn’t share more food obsessions while we were both in the Bay Area. Hubbie and I find that having a 2 and an (almost) 4-year-old has put our foodie-ness on hold for awhile (well, that and jobs and whatnot), so it’s interesting that this has not happened to you. Bravo!

In terms of your cheese obsession, I highly recommend The Old Man Who Loved Cheese, which you should read to the little ones. It’s by Garrison Keiller and has a rather sad ending (the guy gives up stinky cheese for the sake of family togetherness), but it’s still a fun read….

I know the feeling, I recently left a vast city of food for the north country. Thanks for being realistic, good food is everywhere you just have to look for it. When all else fails cook yourself some great food!

Hey! Stumbled across your blog via All Over Albany. Definitely adding you to my Google Reader feed. We need more people passionate about a strong food culture in the Capital Region. Incidentally, didn’t we used to be friends on Yelp? The Internet is a weird place…

Hi Dan, I have been trying to connect via Yelp, I am the new owner of Allure Salon as of March 2010. Your negative review keeps popping up in conversation. I would like to personally invite you for a FREE haircut and to see what my daughter and I have done to improve the place. Also, we have let go the old stylists that you talk about in the review and have talented new staff. Come in and see how professionals run a business, thanks, look forward to hearing from you soon, Kristine, Owner of Allure Salon

Hey there, I write http://www.thefussyone.com and I couldn’t agree more about good food and drink! I will be following you and would love you to follow me too. I am more about Mixology bars and restaurants in and around LA, but feel we both have the same interest at heart. Change peoples idea about what good food really is (and in my case, good cocktails too) Happy Blogging!
