Too Fussy

August 2, 2010

Today’s regularly scheduled post will not be appearing this morning.

It has been deemed too fussy by Mrs. Fussy herself, and the post is too important to get it wrong the first time. Hopefully it can get cleaned up and be suitable for publication by Tuesday morning.  So in the meantime, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on what has gone right during the first quarter of the second year of the FUSSYlittleBLOG.

Yes, that means that this little corner of the internet is now 1¼ years old.
Plus we just recently passed 100,000 page views which feels pretty good.

Last December I looked back at the top posts from the FLBs first calendar year, and learned a lot about which topics people read the most.  But there is no reason I need to wait a whole year to do that again.  Want to see if your favorite post from the last three months made the cut?

In no particular order, these are the top ten posts from the last three months.

The vast majority were restaurant related.  Three of the restaurant posts were about philosophical issues about what makes a good restaurant and why Albany restaurants aren’t better.  The other three had to do with specific ingredients and preparations.
Culinary Sophistication
Go Tell it on the Menu
A Restaurant Owner’s Nightmare

A Pesto Pounding

Maple Syrup: A Sticky Situation

Created: The Slugkiller

Two were blog related.  The post that dealt with the mysterious disappearance of the Ridiculous Food Society as well as the post that gave away three cast iron skillets got a ton of attention.  I learned two very important things.  One, that Mr. Dave sure is loved by many.  Two, next time I do a promotion I’ll structure it with an emphasis on actual readers of the blog versus those who are just online promotion trolls.
Now That’s Ridiculous
Fussy Little Giveaway: Cookware Edition

One post was about a store that some people are working hard to lure to the Capital Region, while others don’t seem to understand its appeal.  This was my attempt to explain what all the hype was about to the nonbelievers.
Beautiful Mom’s in Their Yoga Clothes

Miraculously, a wine post made it into the top ten as well.  It’s amazing because I almost gave up on wine entirely since the readership of the category has been significantly under-performing the blog as a whole.  This post has earned the section another lease on life.
NY Wine Earns Its Bad Rap

A few of the themes from the restaurant stories above are involved in the post that was preempted today.  So please check back tomorrow for what I hope to be phase one of a major new initiative on the FUSSYlittleBLOG.
