Fact Finding

I’m getting old. Maybe I’ve mentioned this already. But I feel myself slipping. I played pinball with ADS recently and for the most part he trounced me. Perhaps I’m recalling incorrectly (which would also be a sign of aging), however I think we used to be more evenly matched.

Not only that, but after a couple hours of working the flippers, my wrists were sore. Plus the flashing lights seemed a whole lot brighter and much more distracting.

For further proof, Raf is starting to come up with good ideas. Although at the same time, he’s also committing unspeakable atrocities against food, which I never thought he would be capable of perpetrating. But that’s another story.

Today, I want to share one of Raf’s very simple but most excellent ideas.

Content gets lost on the FLB. And in part that’s the twitchy nature of a blog. It’s a daily medium. But recently I just saw an article about how to find a bottle of wine for less than $15 in Food & Wine Magazine, and it was redolent of something I wrote a while back.

One thing Raf hates is when I keep on linking back to past stories I’ve written (like I just did above) instead of linking to other blogs. But by linking back to myself, I’m hoping to provide a launching point for further FLB exploration.

Raf had requested that I add a widget to the sidebar that included the top ten most read posts on the blog. But that sidebar is crowded enough already. Luckily, he thought putting these in a tab at the top of the page was sufficient.

Speaking of which, I’d like to draw your attention to the top of the page.

There you should find a new tab called Recommendations and it is that plus a bit more. The FUSSYlittleTOURS represent a lot of hard work. Not just from me, but the participants who come and lend their bodies to science. So I made a section for them. I also included a section called out with the stories I have written for the Chefs Consortium.

For better or for worse, I’ve written too many Eat This! entries for All Over Albany to reasonably list them all on the page. Instead, I linked to the archive, so should some stranger in town arrive at this blog looking for something good to eat, they may potentially find their answer.

These last things weren’t Raf’s ideas. They have been things I’ve meant to do for a while. However it was Raf that gave me the kick in the ass to get them done.

He also grilled up some tasty hangar steaks today. Thanks old man.
