Photo Friday From Little Pecks
I can’t believe it’s already Friday!
What a week. The only way I got through it was because of Little Pecks. I made the mistake and originally thought this place was called Little Peck’s. You know, since it’s the adjoining sister cafe to Peck’s Arcade. But Vic told me that there is no apostrophe.
The official grand opening will be soon. This week the cafe was in its soft opening phase. So food options were limited, and I was told the horchata latte was still being tweaked. All the same, I’ve been waiting for something like this to open up since I first met Vic while he was building out the Lucas Confectionery and bringing Blue Bottle coffee to the Capital Region.
Now they have switched over to Tandem Coffee roasters out of Maine. And the New Orleans iced coffee has been converted over to Tandem’s malted cold brew. But enough words. Let’s get on with the pictures.
Friday’s treat. I piece of Greg’s coffee cake and a cortado.
The horchata late is an iced drink, and looks no different from any other milky drink. I think it needs a bit further development, but it is pretty to look at.
This brownie. Oh, this brownie. Little Miss Fussy said it was the best brownie she had all year. Somehow, it’s also gluten free. When you see that on the menu, don’t turn away. It’s delicious, and I had no idea it was GF when I ordered it. And I couldn’t tell it was GF when I was eating it. Frankly, I have no idea how it could possibly be GF. It probably has something to do with butter and eggs.
This! This is what I’ve been waiting all of these years to do. Bring my computer to the courtyard of the Confectionery, and drink some coffee in the morning while I do a little bit of writing. It’s like a dream come true.
Meet the new machine in town. She’s beautiful. And it’s in good hands.
The espresso. I have to say, given the beans that Little Pecks has chosen for its espresso, I highly recommend drinking it straight instead of going for one of the milky options. It’s bright and lively.
Pour overs are another great option. On my visits they had a Kenyan and a Guatemalan. Go for the Kenyan.
Of all the drinks, this one is my favorite. It’s the malted cold brew. It’s unusual, yes. But it’s remarkably delicious, and almost a bit savory with the addition of the malt extract. It comes sweetened and lightened, so it’s a treat for sure. However, Little Pecks is a place that’s all about treating yourself. So have at it.
Nice pics!!! I mean, pecks!!!
