Crazy Week, Crazy Awesome

November 8, 2009

Sunday is supposed to be wine day.  But I needed to do an official recap of this week, because so much happened it wasn’t even funny.  Somehow it is always the wine posts or the cocktail posts on Fridays that generally get the short end of the stick.

Maybe you already know about this amazing week.  But you would probably have to follow my twitter feed, be a fan on facebook, be my friend on facebook, follow my Yelp reviews, read every FLB post and read every post from the blogroll.

If you are one of those people, you might want to just skip the rest of this and come back tomorrow, when I return to writing about food.  Or maybe you just click through to double-check you know about everything.

First, on Monday, there was the actual tasting for the final round of All Over Albany’s 2009 Tournament of Pizza.  The two winners from the semis, Nunzio’s and Pasquale’s, were going to make their best pies for us to determine a winner.  Anticipation was high since Nunzio’s from Saratoga Springs dominated the semifinals with their white pizza.  And they were up against last year’s winner, who had just won their seventh consecutive tournament match-up.  Per Otis’s request, I’ll talk more about this later in the week.

On Tuesday evening there was the Chipotle tasting.  When I was originally invited to the event, I assumed the notice was sent to the entire local media community with a token handful of bloggers thrown into the mix. I was very wrong.  Only six local writers were invited to attend.  For whatever reason William Dowd, Celina Ottoway, and Mr. Dave were unable to come.  So there I was with Albany Jane and Kristi Gustafson (filling in for Steve Barnes) eating some of the tastiest food I had ever received from a Chipotle.

Then on Wednesday, Kristi pointed all of her readers to the FUSSYlittleBLOG for my rundown of the food.  That brought a whole bunch of new readers to the site.  If you are still here, and reading this a few days after the fact, welcome – I hope you stick around.

On Thursday Steve Barnes wrote a piece for the print edition of the Times Union, and the FUSSYlittleBLOG was quoted at the end of the article.  Here is a link to the page two mention, and here is a link to the original post that was quoted.  That brought a different bunch of new readers to the site.  No new commenters, but if you are new, please feel free to speak your mind on any post you like.  Be as fussy as you like, we’ll make more.

Finally on Friday, my first video appearance aired on All Over Albany, discussing the 2009 Tournament of Pizza with the other three judges.  I haven’t watched the video in full myself – I am not as much a narcissist as some might think – but I have been told I did okay.  Next time I’ll try to keep my hands away from my face.  And apparently there are two women out there who think I am a dreamboat.

Mrs. Fussy has known this for quite some time, but advises any would-be suitors to stay away from her man.

It was an awesome week.  Cue happy music.

Luckily on Saturday I was able to rest.  And this week promises to be uneventful.  Maybe I can even get back to some healthful eating of hearty homemade foods, and take a break from pizza and burritos.  Or maybe not.

I think it was all the talk about “lusty vegetables.”

This is just like in Julie & Julia when her blog gets mentioned in the Times. -BenP, who was the only male between 15 & 35 in the local second-run movie theatre last night

Suitresses, you mean? I hope you brought your your best trademark DB chortle. I’m watching this as soon as I can see it, damn work filters.

If it’s a crazy suitress, does that make her a suitcase?
