Problems in Providence
Mrs. Fussy likes to write in the mornings when she is fresh. Me? I like to write at night after everyone is n bed and the world is quiet.
Usually that works out great.
I’ll write my little pieces of prose about food in the evening and Mrs. Fussy will copyedit them in the morning before I even wake up. Truth be told, she’s been slacking a bit about bringing me coffee in bed. But as long as we’re on the subject of truth, I’ve been getting to sleep in a good bit later during our more relaxed summer schedule.
Today however I’m in Providence, and I’m having some late night Internet problems, so this is the very first FLB post that I’ve written on my phone. My thumbs are already killing me. I don’t know how the kids do it these days.
Ordinarily the page break would go here.
The good news is the Ice Cream Sandwich Throw Down voting is now complete. Don’t worry. I’m going to throw out the brazenly fraudulent votes for Creo. They may not be so brazen to you, but I can see users IP addresses.
Anyway, I’m glad that phase is over so we can move into the tasting round. Keep your eyes peeled early this week for ticket news.
Today was all about:
– Healthy breakfast followed by cake
– Lobster rolls and fried clams
– Grilled octopus with lemon and olive oil
– Cotton candy with kids at WaterFire
Not surprisingly at the end of the day my stomach wasn’t feeling so great. Normally I’d soothe it was a digestif, likely absinthe. Having none on hand in my Mother’s guest quarters, I hopped down the corner store and found something quite unexpected. Bitter lemon.
Quinine, take me away.

as a kid I used to drink that stuff bu the 6 pack.
Excellent stuff – good for malaria too!
Bitter lemon sounds like a soda right up my alley. Believe it or not, I’ve been on a bitter kick lately – way less sugar, and even… gasp… dark chocolate.
How does that taste with gin?
I thought those Creo votes looked suspicious, and not just because I was partial to a different contender!
